Last week two of our consultants, Flavio Gomes and Andreas Liljeberg, delivered a webinar about Personalised Pricing, to an audience of over 150 Pega CDH practitioners spread across the world. The purpose of this session was to outline DCS’ view of why Personalised Pricing is a valuable solution to Pega CDH clients across many sectors, and showcase DCS’ template solution for how a Personalised Pricing solution can be developed in a performant, efficient, and upgrade-ready way in Pega 8.8.
Why Personalised Pricing?
Personalised Pricing makes sense as a capability for any Pega CDH client that wants to charge different prices for the same product or service. E.g. they might want to charge two different prices for the same product depending on customer location, competitor footprint at that location, customer profile, or other data points. Why? Because it allows them to personalise the customer experience, incentivise or disincentivise certain customer behaviours, and ultimately provides opportunities to maximise revenue.
How to implement Personalised Pricing?
Implementing a Personalised Pricing capability in Pega CDH can lead to some operational and technical challenges, depending on how it is implemented. However, DCS’ suggested approach entails adhering to two key principles to avoid these challenges: 1) Decouple actions from prices, and 2) Mange prices in an extension point
What are the benefits of DCS’ solution to Personalised Pricing
DCS’ approach to Personalised Pricing offers clients three key benefits: 1) it is operationally light touch (once some initial setup costs have been borne, it is lightweight in terms of ongoing maintenance, e.g. changing prices is a simple, straightforward process), 2) it allows for a shorter time-to-market meaning clients can quickly adjust their pricing to respond to competitor and/or market dynamics, and 3) processing/platform-wise, it is efficient, as by design it revolves around reducing the number of actions the Pega CDH application has to evaluate when making a decision.
